  • Please only draw him anthro if not swimming. Standing on four legs isn't normal for his species even if it is possible!

  • Also put clothes on that fish, all formal clothes are good

  • Ricky's based on a blue shark!

02 — Personality

Ricky's not really a terrible person. He has a tendency to get carried away, and sometimes his fame goes to his head, but he's not evil or anything. He's busy and has things to do, but if you see him at the store and want to say hello he's not going to tear you apart.

He plays things up for the camera and is known for being emotive with his hands. Ricky has no vision for his show—the important thing is that he's the one in focus. He won't complain if somebody else gets their time onscreen, but... well, he's worked his way up here for a reason, give Ricky his show.

Ricky suffers from deep guilt after an act he committed in order to get to where he is. His regrets for committing this action is Ricky's main reason for not completely losing his mind to fame and fortune—he knows what he's done and he can't enjoy everything he has with the knowledge of that. You'll never hear about it. The secret dies with him.

03 — Background

FIRST

Ricky is a swimmer dragon, an alien species of pseudodragon from a planet that's almost entirely water. Swimmer dragons are big fans of the media- television especially. A good host from one of the large companies could have almost worldwide popularity- even if all they do is share the news. It takes a while for a dragon to even get up to working for one of these companies.

Even regular programming (such as TV shows or movies) are often introduced and curated by these companies. There are no streaming services- Swimmer television is broken up into a multitude of channels, often belonging to- despite differences in content- one company. "Top showhosts" are the face of these companies and are present across any networks owned by the one company. These individuals tend to be well-known celebrities above even actors.

I think that's enough about shark TV for one character form.

Ricky spent much of his life working for smaller local channels. Eventually his voice and on-film personality was interesting enough to catch the attention of the world's largest network owner.

SECOND

Ricky's doing local news and weather for his general area on a network owned by this major company. A good performance here and a good performance there leads to the shark-dragon becoming well-recieved enough to be put as the weather reporter for a larger area.

One of the top showhosts is retiring, and that means that positions are going to shift. If Ricky wants up there his best shot is to be the shark reporting on major news. Issue with this is that there's a better contender in front of him- a fellow shark who's been there for longer and is certainly more popular in the rankings than this random blue shark is.

So Ricky makes a choice he'd end up regretting for the rest of his life- he pays somebody to kill his competition.

THIRD

With his competition dead and no signs pointing to the nervous blue shark ready to take the role next, Ricky's career gets better from there. He's good at what he does. The shark has a clear voice and a charming personality. It's just hard to hear all of that when you know the only reason you're here is because you got somebody else killed.

The guilt, alongside the fame the shark ends up recieving, isn't good for him. Viewers start to pick up on the fact that he seems stressed. The more well recieved he is the worse he ends up feeling. His own actions, even years in the past, haunt him. Yet he has a show to run.

Alas, he wouldn't be running it for too much longer.

04 — Trivia

  • A couple years after getting to the point he wanted and having a stable career, Ricky dies from an electrical failure in the filming room that kills him almost immediately.

  • Ricky has no wife, no pets, no close family. He gets along well with the people he works with, especially those who help him set up for filming, but that's really the most he has.
